Bearing wear shows up as a slow rise in vibration weeks before the seizure; cavitation chews an impeller long before flow collapses; a tired motor pulls a little more current every day. Veritas Data designs and builds monitoring that reads what your VFDs and meters already know over Modbus — read-only — and adds vibration sensing on the bearings, where the story really lives. So the fix happens on your schedule, not the pump’s.

By the time a pump is loud enough to hear across the plant room — or trips on overload — the failure is already expensive. The signals were there for weeks.
  • Climbing vibration. Bearing wear and misalignment show up as a slow vibration trend long before seizure — the textbook early warning on any rotating machine.
  • Cavitation. A pump that sounds like it’s pumping gravel is eating its own impeller — collapsing vapor bubbles pit the metal and drag efficiency down with it.
  • Creeping current. Same flow, more amps: wear, clogging, or a motor fighting something it shouldn’t be. Nobody reads the drive display until something trips.
  • The standby nobody exercises. The duty pump gets the attention; the standby fails silently — and you find out the one moment it’s actually needed.
Why it matters

A cheap machine guarding expensive consequences.

The pump itself is rarely the loss. It’s what the pump was doing: the condenser loop that takes a chiller down with it, the booster that leaves upper floors dry, the sump that floods an electrical room, the transfer line that stops production. Add emergency labor, overnight parts, and secondary damage, and a failure that had been vibrating for a month ends up costing many times the early fix.
