A plant air compressor rarely fails politely. It runs hot, cycles hard, loses efficiency, or lets water past a failing dryer — and the first anyone hears of it is a line down or tools spitting moisture. Veritas Data designs and builds monitoring for compressed-air systems that watches the compressor and the air quality, so trouble surfaces on a dashboard instead of on the production floor.

Two things take a compressed-air system down: the compressor itself, and the water it’s supposed to keep out. Both give warning — if someone’s watching.
  • The compressor fails and the plant stops. No air means no pneumatic tools, no actuators, no line — a single point of failure the whole floor depends on, often with no warning anyone was tracking.
  • Water in the lines. A failing dryer or clogged drain lets moisture through — and water wrecks tools, rusts valves, freezes lines, and ruins product. In humid climates it’s a constant fight.
  • Efficiency bleeds away. Rising motor current, longer load cycles, and creeping discharge temperature mean the compressor is working harder and heading for trouble — while the power bill climbs.
  • Pressure drops nobody catches. A slow leak or a struggling compressor starves the tools at the far end of the plant, and the symptom looks like a hundred small problems instead of one.

The one utility the whole floor runs on.

Compressed air is often the single most expensive utility in a plant to produce, and the one every tool and machine quietly depends on. A compressor failure doesn’t inconvenience one station — it stops the line. And water damage is slower but just as costly: ruined tools, scrapped product, and rust that shortens the life of everything downstream. Both are the kind of failure that a rising trend on a dashboard could have flagged days earlier.

    Where the compressor already exposes data, we read it — Modbus or the unit’s own controller — without changing how it runs.
